Week 5 update - Great Dane!

Hi guys!

Here's my latest version of the shot.  Would love notes on everything!

Polishing:

  • Body timing
  • Head timing
  • Ball throw
  • Paw-step placement and timing

To-do:

  • Animate face and ball
  • Polish paw-steps (only hind left leg is polished for now, the rest will have the same feel)
  • Animate tail
I hope you guys like it!  Again, go at it.  I can still change it quite a bit :)

  1. Hello again, gentlemen, here's the updated animation (that face is a tough one!). I hope you guys like it :) Still have to polish up the facial animation a tad more (flapping cheeks and ears), but the timing for the face, body, and ball is ready for you guys to critique :)

  2. Aaaand I realized what was bugging me about the jump onto the hill, so I fixed it :) Sped up the hip-up motion, feels a LOT better.

  3. Hi guys! This is the version that I'm going to submit to Sony in my reel. I hope you guys like it! Of course, I'm still accepting critiques, but I had to call it sometime, right?

  4. Hey Isai,

Looking good! I'm having to really frame through to find things to critique. The motion blur on his eyelashes and whiskers is fuzzy and a bit distracting at the beginning. Also, the way he bites the toy is a bit soft. It might be nice to use sharper chewing movements at the end - it would also be nice to see a little bit of that rippling into the body. Great stuff!

  5. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you with this Isai. It's looking great. 2 Things that jumped out to me were his weight as he's bounding up the hill felt too light and slow to me. I wonder if you could speed that action up and also push the hips down a bit more to help show more weight on the back side. He also does a nice anticipation up with his body before he comes down to eat at the end of the shot and right now it feels like the whole body is going up and down in that action. It would be nice to break it up so the head, chest go up first and then the hips. It's just nice to break up those sections when ever possible. Everything else is feeling pretty good. Nice work.
